Earlier this week I read a ladies blog, sorry don’t know whose, and she had a post regarding her blog. The post was related to what she had done for the month and what she was going to accomplish the next month. Loved this article. So, I decided I should add this to my list of posts to write every month. This is what my first month of blogging was like. I’ve included what I have found that has worked my first month of blogging. If you want to know how to start a blog read on I’ve listed everything that has worked for me so far.
Last week I decided to write a post about building window boxes. I have always wanted window boxes on the front of my house. Some how between last week and this morning my window boxes became planter boxes. Which pretty much is just another day in my life. How did this happen? I got Urban involved 🙂 Or I should say Urban got himself involved. Can you relate?
Last Monday my husband and I celebrated thirteen years of marriage. Yeah! In honor of that very big milestone, which anybody that has been married knows every year that you stay married is a milestone. 🙂 I decided to make my husbands favorite peanut butter bars. With all my recipes there is a story.
The time has begun. It is mushroom season. If you grew up in the Midwest you know what I am talking about. Those mushrooms that sprout out of the ground and cause mass chaos in our household. Over Easter weekend Urban decided that it was time to go mushroom hunting.
It was Thursday last week and I got off of work to see this pretty stitch fix box waiting for me. Want to find out why I HAD to keep the entire box. Hint: it has to do with my klutziness.
Do you ever have one of those moments when you realize that a characteristic that somebody has about you is true? Of course, it is never the good qualities that you can’t see about yourself. It is always the flaws or maybe I shouldn’t say flaw but what makes you “special.” Ha. This happened to me while I was making the sugar cookies for this post.
One of the very first, if not the first DIY projects I did for our house was scrabble tiles. I decided instead of buying wall art for our new house I would attempt to make all the art that went on our walls. Thus began the scrabble tiles for our wall. Read on to see how it turned out.
When I first decided this was my next project I went online to Pinterest and looked at dozens of articles on how to make the tiles. Some were good and some were not so good. The hardest part of this was how do I attach them to the wall 🙂 Read on and I will tell you. Along with a picture!
New house and budget……
Those two works are synonymous with each other as my children are with doing something the first time I ask them. So, you have decided to build a house. And you need to know how to build a house on a budget. Look no further I will guide you briefly through the highs and lows ($$) of building a house on a budget. Please try not to become a housezilla!
Before I start this post I have to tell you how my evening went. Yesterday evening I had just finished cooking chicken on my George Foreman when my husband called and said that they were done at the neighbors and everybody was staying to have a BBQ; would I like to come over? Sure, love to! So I left everything right where it was and headed to the neighbors.
Usually when we run somewhere we let Expresso (our dog) out of the house and let her run around in the yard. I forgot to do this last night. So two hours later I come home and guess what our precious Expresso had done? Yes, she had helped herself to three, yes THREE pieces of chicken. Bones and all. Which is another story, she has never had bones before; I don’t give them to her. Not only that but there was chicken grease all over the hard wood floor from where she had lazily ate at her leisure since no body was there to stop her!
In the midst of cleaning up I was moving a tray of chicken grease to the garbage and spilled it all over my 1 year old. (It wasn’t hot, but still) Yes, score another one for a momma fail! Poor guy, he didn’t cry but looked at me like I had lost my mind. Let’s face it though after you have been a mom for awhile you get use to these looks.
After last night I am ready to sit amidst peace and quiet and type on my computer for awhile. I hope you enjoy this recipe just as much as I enjoy sharing it with you.
How to Make A Budget?
Last week I gave tips on how to start a budget. After talking to a friend over the weekend they confided in me that they didn’t know where to start when making a budget. Sometimes I think when you have been in a profession for a long time you forget that not everybody is proficient in your profession. My husband is a contractor and when he starts talking in his “contracting voice” as I call it he loses me. He then gets that look on his face that shows he is frustrated that I am not following what he said.
