Easy Apple Crisp Recipe With Oats
Happy Labor Day! And if you are one of lucky people who had Monday off, woot woot! This weekend was great not too hectic and plenty of fun with my boys. We still have a bucket load of apples so today I will be sharing another apple recipe. I have to get rid of the apples some how. The recipe is an easy apple crisp recipe.
I wrote a post about this earlier in the year. If you want to read that post click here. The easy apple crisp recipe is pretty easy to throw together last minute. The longest part is peeling and cutting ten apples. Moreover if you aren’t ready to commit to making a pie then this recipe is for you.
This recipe is made in a 9 x 9 pan. Start by peeling and cutting ten apples. You want to make sure the apples are heaping out of the pan. When you cook apples they shrink.
Cover the apples with 3/4 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Now for the fun part 🙂
Cover with the oats. I will admit that this was gone in one day! ONE DAY! Mainly because of the oats topping. In a bowl combine 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 cup quick oats, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder. You will sprinkle the crumbled topping over the apples and bake for about 45 minutes at 350.
The most important thing is to make sure the apples are tender. So you have my permission to take a bite. It may take a couple of tries before you are absolutely sure it is completely cooked. Just because it is cooked on one side it may not be on the other. Better take a bite just to make sure 🙂
And once it is done. OMG, yum!
And there you have it. An easy apple crisp recipe.
Ready to take for those fall cookouts and fish fry. Or just keep at home and devour in one day like Urban and me did.
Apples are by far my favorite fruit to cook with, so expect more apple recipes as I try to use up all of my apples!
