Smores Dip with Mini Marshmallows

Smores Dip with Mini Marshmallows

Happy Smore’s Day!!!  Hey everybody.  How is your week going?  This is the last full week my boys have before school starts so I wanted to share with you a recipe that I will be making for them when they get home from school.  It is a smores dip with mini marshmallows.

Before we get to the story and our recipe I want to share some very exciting news.  Starting this week every Thursday I will be part of a group of ladies who host a link party.  The party is called Friday Frivolity and will start every Thursday at 8 pm.  Be sure to link up and show us what you have been up to.

Now back to my story……..

I am going to let you in on a secret.  A guilty pleasure if you will.  The first week of school I do not make healthy after school snacks.  Nope, they are all sinfully delicious treats that my boys look forward to all day at school.  This recipe not only fits in that category but it is also fun because I let them make it.

If you are fortunate enough to have kiddos that love to be in the kitchen with you then this recipe is for you.  It’s fast, easy and cooks in the microwave.  I can’t guarantee no messes, hello marshmallows.  But I can guarantee it’s a heck of a lot easier to clean then the stove when they “accidentally” leave the marshmallows in too long because they want to see how big they can get 🙂  Can any of you relate?  Sometimes I think my boys use cooking as a science experiment.  Wow mom it does explode if you leave it in the microwave too long, ha!

Smores Dip with Mini Marshmallows

This recipe comes together very fast.  Drop 1 cup of chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl and microwave until soft.  It took about a minute in my microwave.

Stir well, then add 1 cup of marshmallows and microwave until soften.

Serve with graham crackers 🙂  And that is it!  I will tell you that each boy makes their own dip.  It means they have to take turns for the microwave but it’s easier than them fighting over one bowl when it is done.  This picture is after a couple of sneaky boys got into it before I could get pictures.  To me that says recipe is a success!

  • Um, yes please! This has “emotional therapy for two teenage daughters and their hormonal mom” written all over it. So glad you joined the #FridayFrivolity hosting team! I love this party!

  • I have always let my kids cook. The problem I have is my 20-year old son and his lack of clean-up skills. He forgets to do it.

Thanks for hosting and I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

    • There is the drawback of the cleanup 🙂 But worth it! As my boys get older the kitchen is one of those places where we connect.
