Sun Basket Review #1
Has anybody else been inundated by ads about food subscription boxes? I have a friend who is raving about a box subscription service that she has been getting for the past couple of months. Well, after having a terrible couple of days at work and being exhausted I thought why not? Is there anybody else that just gets tired of working all day and then having to come home and be a top chef in the kitchen? I mean peanut butter and jelly is kinda good for you. Can’t that be on the weekly menu? Please Urban?
After seeing and hearing about all these food subscription boxes I had to try it out. I did some research and thought that Sun Basket would be the best fit for my family. Sun Basket is completely organic and I love that their website is very user friendly.
So here is Sun Basket Review #1.

Your order will take about a week to get. You have five options. You have to pick at least two but you can choose all five. It comes very nicely packaged individually so you know which meal it is.
The menu is right on top so you know where to start. I really like that it has a fun area for the kids as well. My kiddos didn’t help this time around but there was tips/tricks on how they could help make the meal. All of the recipes are included which made for fun reading material. So if I get ambitious I can try to duplicate some of these recipes. There is secret spices/blends but hey a girl can try anyways.
I decided to try the black bean tostadas first. Why, because I knew my kiddos would love the chicken. And I wanted to see how they would handle the black beans. I have a picky eater in my family. He gets it from his Mamma.
Everything is nicely packaged and labeled for you. So if you aren’t sure what the difference between ginger and garlic is. You do not have to worry 🙂 Yes, I know this isn’t the right picture but I didn’t take one of the black beans. You get the idea.
The instructions were super easy. I mean really easy for me to follow along. The prep/cook time was unbelievably short for both meals. I think cook/prep/eat/cleanup it was a total of 45 minutes.
And this is how they turned out. I liked that you could customize each shell.
This is how my one year’s plate looked. He loved it. Out of my three boys he liked the meals the best.
Now for the second SunBasket meal
This was a total winner in our house. Everybody ate it. My boys didn’t care for the green rice. I think it was because it was green because they eat white/brown rice fine. The sauce on this chicken was amazing. It was spicy so I didn’t give it to my one year old.
A couple of notes. My family has five people in it so I ordered the family meals. I would totally do this again. Not only was it a fun experience but it really was lick the plate clean good. I am looking at you Urban 🙂 We had left overs from both meals, the meals are suppose to feed a family of four.
